Alexandra & Vincent | Private Residence | Vashon Island, WA
Some love stories begin with a grand romantic gesture. This one began on Hinge in New York City, somewhere between questionable profile photos, bad small talk, and the statistical odds of an unexpected age gap. What started as a first date quickly became something much bigger: long dinners, weekend adventures, building businesses together, traveling whenever possible, and creating a life filled with dogs, projects, and plenty of ambitious decisions.
New York City was where their relationship began, but adventure had always been their shared language. After years of city life, they traded their New York apartment for a completely different kind of landscape: Vashon Island in Washington’s Puget Sound, surrounded by trees, water, dogs, and a new chapter waiting to unfold.
On June 20, 2026, they celebrated that chapter with an unforgettable Vashon Island backyard wedding. Their home was transformed into a whimsical garden party inspired by Alice in Wonderland and Willy Wonka, complete with an “It was all a dream” motif. Colorful, maximalist, and wonderfully unconventional, the celebration was a perfect reflection of the couple and their story.
Their wedding film combines 16mm film, VHS, and digital footage, creating a layered visual record of the day that feels nostalgic, playful, and completely authentic. The different film formats are punctuated by the natural sounds of the celebration, from conversations and laughter to the energy of the garden party and the people who filled it.
For the dress code, guests were encouraged to embrace the Alice in Wonderland-meets-Willy-Wonka aesthetic with bold colorful suits, pastel and jewel tones, maximalist garden party dresses, whimsical prints, florals, statement accessories, vintage jewelry, and playful hats. The instructions were simple: the crazier and more whimsical, the better.
And the couple certainly brought that same spirit to the day.
In a twist that could only belong to a wedding this wonderfully unconventional, Vincent navigated the celebration with a cane after breaking his foot while backflipping off a mechanical bull. Rather than letting an unexpected injury derail the festivities, the cane became another unforgettable part of the story—and another detail worth preserving in their wedding film.
The day unfolded with champagne in the garden, an intimate ceremony, cocktails and oysters, whimsical florals, a midsummer feast, heartfelt toasts, a first dance, and hours of dancing. There were donuts, wild outfits, colorful flowers, and plenty of moments that could never have been scripted. The result was exactly what you'd hope for from a Vashon Island wedding in Washington: deeply personal, visually distinctive, completely joyful, and impossible to recreate.
From meeting on Hinge in New York City to building a life together on Vashon Island, this wedding film captures more than a wedding day. It captures the strange, hilarious, adventurous path that brought two people together—and all the people, places, sounds, and wonderfully unexpected moments that made their celebration theirs.
A colorful Vashon Island wedding, an Alice in Wonderland garden party, a little Willy Wonka whimsy, and one very memorable cane—captured through 16mm, VHS, and digital videography to preserve the feeling of the day for years to come.
And, as the couple put it, the best day of their lives.
